Career Journey Of Brenton Wood
Brenton Wood chose his stage name, possibly inspired by the upscale area of Brentwood in Los Angeles. His early singles with Brent Records and Wand Records didn’t make it onto the charts. Later, he signed with Double Shot Records.
In the 1960s, Wood’s backing band was Kent and The Candidates, a group from Los Angeles led by drummer Kent Sprague. In 1972, Wood became a music entrepreneur by starting his record label.
He co-wrote, co-produced, and released the funk soul classic “Sticky Boom Boom [Too Cold] Part I and II” with collaborator George Semper. In 1986, Brenton released the album Out of the Woodwork, which featured re-recordings of his early hits and new songs like “Soothe Me.”
He later released another album, This Love Is for Real, in 2001. In 2014, Wood teamed up with William Pilgrim & The All Grows Up to remake his song “Gimme Little Sign” for their album Epic Endings.
In 2024, he announced his farewell tour, called Catch You On The Rebound: The Last Tour.
