Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar made history by scoring an unbeaten 664-run partnership in a school cricket match against St. Xavier’s School, Fort. Kambli’s Ranji Trophy career had a memorable start when he hit a six off the very first ball he faced.
He made his debut for India in One Day Internationals in 1991 and in Test cricket in 1992. In Test cricket, Vinod Kambli scored four centuries, including two double centuries.
He also holds the record for being the fastest Indian player to score 1,000 runs in Test matches, achieving this in just 14 innings. Kambli’s first Test century was an impressive 224 runs against England at Wankhede Stadium in 1993, during his third Test match.
In the very next match, he scored another double-century, making 227 runs against Zimbabwe. He is also the only cricketer to score three back-to-back Test centuries in three consecutive innings against three different countries.
Vinod played his first One Day International (ODI) match in 1991 against Pakistan during the Wills Sharjah Trophy. He also played in the 1992 and 1996 Cricket World Cups. In his ODI career, he scored two centuries.
