Political Journey Of Nilesh Narayan Rane

Rane was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha (India’s Parliament) from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency in Maharashtra as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). During his time in the Lok Sabha, he was part of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Rules Committee.

Nilesh ran for the same seat in the 16th Lok Sabha but lost to Vinayak Raut, a Shiv Sena candidate. In 2019, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

However, in 2024, he switched to the Shiv Sena and ran as a Maha Yuti candidate in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election from the Kudal constituency. He won that seat by 8,176 votes.

Rane contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Kudal constituency in the Konkan region, representing Shiv Sena. Voting for the elections happened on November 20, and the vote-counting is happening today, November 23.

Nilesh is the son of Union Minister Narayan Rane. His brother, Nitesh Rane, is an MLA representing the Kankavli constituency in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Nilesh was a Member of Parliament from 2009 to 2014, elected from the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency in Maharashtra as a Congress candidate.

During his term, he was part of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Rules Committee.
