Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis, born on July 22, 1970, is an Indian politician who is set to become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on December 4, 2024. He has previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister in Eknath Shinde’s government alongside Ajit Pawar. Before this, he was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from October 31, 2014, to November 12, 2019.

From 2019 to 2022, he worked as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He also served as the President of the BJP’s Maharashtra state unit from 2013 to 2015.

At the age of 44, Fadnavis became Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, making him the second-youngest to hold the position, after Sharad Pawar. During the political crisis in Maharashtra in 2019, he briefly returned as Chief Minister for 5 days before resigning on November 28, 2019.

Fadnavis is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He has represented the Nagpur South West constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly since 2009 and previously served the Nagpur West constituency from 1999 to 2009. Earlier in his career, he was the Mayor of Nagpur from 1997 to 2001.

His father, Gangadhar Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, and his mother, Sarita Fadnavis, was involved in community services.

He attended Saraswati Vidyalaya School after initially studying at Indira Convent. Later, he earned a law degree from Government Law College, Nagpur University, and pursued postgraduate studies in Business Management and Project Management in Berlin, Germany.
