Early Life & Career
Mamta Kulkarni started her acting career with the 1992 film Tirangaa. In 1993, she starred in Aashiq Awara, which earned her the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year. She went on to act in several popular Hindi films, often playing the love interest of the male lead. Some of her notable movies include Waqt Hamara Hai (1993), Krantiveer (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), and Baazi (1995).
In 1998, she was cast as the female lead in Rajkumar Santoshi’s ambitious film China Gate, a remake of Seven Samurai. However, the project faced complications. Reports suggested that Mamta was briefly removed from the film but later reinstated after gangster Chhota Rajan reportedly intervened.
When the movie was released, it performed averagely at the box office. Adding to Mamta’s frustration, the film’s hit song “Chamma Chamma” was performed by Urmila Matondkar, which boosted Urmila’s popularity instead.
Disappointed by how things unfolded, Mamta accused Santoshi of reducing her role in the film because she had rejected his advances, although he denied these allegations. This controversy damaged Mamta’s career, and new opportunities became scarce.
She appeared in a few more films, including Chhupa Rustam: A Musical Thriller (2001), which was her last successful movie. Her final film was Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum (2002), after which she left the film industry.
Apart from Hindi films, Mamta also acted in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Malayalam movies during her career.
Husband & Net Worth
Mamta Kulkarni married Vicky Goswami, a businessman. The couple reportedly moved to Kenya, where they lived for several years. Vicky’s legal issues often drew attention, and Mamta was rumored to have been involved in some of his controversies, although she denied these all****tions. Mamta does not have any children, and her personal life remains private.
As of now, her estimated net worth is around $1-2 million, largely attributed to her earnings from her acting career and investments made during her time in the film industry.
