Wayne Osmond started performing with his brothers Alan, Merrill, and Jay in 1958 as a barbershop quartet. Their talent was noticed in 1961 by Jay Emerson Williams, Andy Williams’ father, during a Disneyland performance filmed for Disneyland After Dark.

In 1962, the four brothers joined NBC’s The Andy Williams Show, appearing regularly for seven years. They also acted in nine episodes of the ABC Western series The Travels of Jaimie McPheeters (1963–1964), with Wayne playing Leviticus Kissel.

As the Osmonds shifted to rock music, Wayne took on the role of guitarist and sometimes played drums, showcasing his musical versatility. Over the years, he mastered eight instruments and was noted for having perfect pitch.

Wayne’s final planned performance with the Osmonds was on October 13, 2018, though he made one more special appearance in 2019 as a birthday gift to his sister, Marie.

Wayne Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah, as the fourth of nine children to Olive May (1925–2004) and George Virl Osmond (1917–2007). He and his family were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On December 13, 1974, Wayne married Kathlyn White from Bountiful, Utah. Kathlyn was a former Miss Davis County Fair and Miss Utah in 1974. Together, they had five children—three daughters and two sons.

In the 1990s, Wayne moved to Branson, Missouri. In 1997, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was successfully treated, but it caused hearing loss by damaging his cochlea. A stroke in 2012 further impacted his ability to play guitar. Despite health challenges, Wayne held a pilot’s license and was nicknamed “Wings,” continuing to fly aircraft until mobility issues stopped him later in life.
